McDonald’s will replace its potatoes with vegetable fries in March

The American fast food giant should communicate in the coming days about replacing its potatoes with beetroot, carrot and parsnip fries in March, according to “Le Parisien”.

McDonald’s goes green in March. According to information from ParisianThe French management of the American fast-food giant announced to its franchisees that its famous fries would be replaced by beetroot, carrot and parsnip fries “as of March 7”, and this for “three or four weeks”.

The company intends to respond “to the new needs of consumers” and to the desire of consumers to “diversify their diet”, reports the newspaper, which indicates that the information should be the subject of a communication campaign in the coming days.

3000 tons of vegetables were grown

For this operation, McDonald’s has partnered with the Canadian giant, specialist in frozen potato products, McCain. Three varieties of vegetables were selected from the twelve tested, and in total more than 3,000 tons of vegetables were grown in the Hauts-de-France.

The beets, carrots and parsnips will be served mixed in the same cone, medium or large, as an accompaniment to the menus, the Parisian specifies. There will be “no additional cost” for customers, says McDonald’s purchasing director.
