A few crumbs on a white plate and a beige background, all accompanied by canned beans. “No guaranteed edition. I present to you the Leader Price albacore tuna ‘Kick for desaturated cat’ edition,” a user mocked this Wednesday, posting on Twitter a photo taken at the Leader Price Club, the site of the poster belonging to the Casino group. . This tweet and the ones that follow, mocking the clichés of other discount brand products, are shared massively.
Contacted by BFM Business, Leader Price fully assumes this shooting “at the economy”. “Club Leader Price does everything cheaply. The site is cheap. The products are cheap. The system is cheap,” explains a spokesman for the Casino group, Club Leader Price’s parent company.
For the record, the site launched in April 2021 to offer Leader Price products for mail order. On the site, customers do not find fresh products, but the entire “dry” range of the brand: preserves, spices, pasta, cleaning products… They can even subscribe to receive the products they regularly consume on a fixed date.
1000 products to photograph
In 2021, about ten people are working “in startup mode” on the launch of the site. We had to go fast, without much means. To find images of the approximately 1,000 products available at the time, the team turned to a freelance photographer, who set up shop in the kitchen area of the group’s headquarters in Vitry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne) and produced the stagings. who are now the joy of Internet users:
The site currently has between 3,000 and 4,000 references, and some present at launch have disappeared. The photos of the new products added to the catalog are much more classic, on a white background. “There are 900 products with these visuals left,” explains the spokeswoman, for whom these photos have not discouraged customers, “increasingly numerous,” she says, without giving precise figures.
The Leader Price Club does not have a Twitter account, but has chosen to respond with a smile on Facebook by offering a promotion to Internet users entitled “Our most beautiful photos”.
