Refineries: CGT says that fuel shipments are still blocked

According to the CGT, fuel shipments were still blocked this Wednesday morning at the exit of the French refineries.

Fuel shipments were still blocked on Wednesday morning at the exit of the TotalEnergies group’s refineries in France, to protest against the government’s pension reform project, CGT-Química told AFP.

On the Esso-ExxonMobil side, the Fos-sur-Mer (Bouches-du-Rhône) refinery had 86% of the strikers among the morning crews. The one from Gravenchon (Seine-Maritime) “was on strike last night”, according to Éric Sellini, who also reports 80% of the strikers at the Lavéra (South East) site of the Petroineos group, a subsidiary of the British Ineos and PetroChina.

“There is no lack of fuel”

“We ask the question [de la reconduction de la grève] every eight hours to arriving employees, the next deadline is between noon and 2:00 p.m. The employees remain just as motivated to continue the movement, yesterday’s mobilization reinforces the motivation”, said Éric Sellini. On Tuesday, the marches in the street surpassed the mobilization record set on January 31, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and of the CGT, but the rate of strikers remained a little below the records for this new day of action.

The management of TotalEnergies had indicated this Monday that at this time “there was no shortage of fuel” in its stations, adding that “stocks in warehouses and service stations are at a high level.” He also ensured that his teams were mobilized to meet a demand that could be more sustained than usual, with additional logistical resources if necessary.

In addition to the tanks located in refineries, France has 200 tanks that allow supplying the networks of all fuel distribution brands, according to Ufip, a spokesperson for the oil companies.
