San Marina recovering from a judgment of cassation by Covid

The shoe brand says it is suffering backlash from a Court of Cassation decision that requires it to pay rent for 2020 during the lockdown.

The San Marina shoe brand, formerly owned by the Vivarte group and which employs 680 people in 163 stores in France, has filed for bankruptcy protection by the Marseille commercial court, the group announced in a press release on Tuesday.

San Marina, based in Gémenos in Bouches-du-Rhône, says in particular that it has suffered the repercussions of the judgment of the Court of Cassation that forced, last June, the so-called non-essential traders and that they had had to maintain their doors closed during the spring 2020 lockdown, to pay their rent.
