Pension reform: 37% of strikers at Totalenergies refineries and warehouses this Saturday

The Donges (Loire-Atlantique) refinery voted to continue the strike on Friday and the Gonfreville-l’Orcher (Manche) refinery could close this weekend or Monday at the latest.

Some 37% of the operating staff at Totalenergies’ refineries and warehouses in France were on strike on Saturday morning, a spokesman for the oil group told Reuters. The strike movement at the refineries to protest against the government’s plan to reform pensions has been going on since the week of March 6.

The workers of the Totalenergies refinery in Donges (Loire-Atlantique), meeting in a general assembly this Friday, March 17, decided to renew the strike for one more week, until March 24, at the request of the inter-union. CGT-FO-CFDT, reports West of France.

At least two refineries, the PetroIneos refinery in Lavéra (Bouches-du-Rhône) and the TotalEnergies Normandy refinery in Gonfreville-l’Orcher (Manche), could close as of this weekend and at the latest on Monday, according to the CGT, specifies for its part the AFP.
