Pensions: Macron speaks at 1:00 p.m., the actions against the reform continue this Wednesday

On the eve of a new great day of national mobilization, actions are planned in all parts of France against the pension reform. For the first time since the start of the crisis, Emmanuel Macron will be interviewed on television at 1:00 p.m.

New day of action and mobilization against the pension reform this Wednesday March 22 in France. Demonstrations will be organized in many cities during the day and at night, after the expected interview with the President of the Republic at 1 pm, which will be followed live by BFMTV.

The strike, which began several days ago, continues in various sectors (refineries, transportation, garbage collectors). SNCF Voyageurs plans to maintain this Wednesday 4 TGVs of 5, 6 Intercités of 10 and 2 TER of 3, but no night train will run.

Operation “dead port” in Le Havre

It is in the west of France where the largest mobilizations against the pension reform should take place this Wednesday. The National Federation of Ports and Docks CGT calls for a “dead port” operation in Le Havre.

Several blockade points could be placed, our colleagues from actu.fr explained, normally at the entrance to the city.

The situation should be similar in Rouen, where an action is scheduled for the morning before the offices of the macronist and centrist parliamentarians who defend the pension reform. Still in the West, the CGT calls for a “dead port” operation in Nantes and Saint-Nazaire.

Macron on the 1 pm news

In the middle of the day, during the 1:00 p.m. newscast on TF1 and France 2, Emmanuel Macron will be interviewed. An event to follow live on BFMTV. He should go back to the highly controversial pension reform, and in particular its option to be adopted without the vote of the deputies with article 49.3.

But, according to our information, the President of the Republic has excluded in the short term a dissolution of the National Assembly, a reshuffle of the government or a referendum.

This Tuesday night in front of the parliamentarians of his field, he felt that it was necessary to “appease” and “listen to the anger”… while stating that “the crowd” had “no legitimacy” vis-à-vis “the people who express themselves through their elected officials”.

Demonstrations in various cities

At 3:00 p.m., Marine Le Pen, deputy of the National Rally and former presidential candidate, will organize a press conference in the National Assembly to react to the interview with the President of the Republic.

In the late afternoon and evening, demonstrations will be organized in various cities in France.

In Paris, rallies are scheduled for 6 p.m. on the Alexandre Dumas metro and Stalingrad metro. For Bordeaux, it will be 5:30 p.m. from Place de la Victoire. The CGT of railway workers will also organize a “strike barbecue” in front of the Strasbourg station, reports AFP.

The smaller municipalities will mobilize, such as in Paimpol, in the Côtes-d’Armor, starting at 5:30 p.m.

These demonstrations will seem like one more warm-up before the strike on March 23, the first national day of mobilization to the call of the unions since the validity of 49.3. On Thursday, between 600,000 and 800,000 protesters are expected in France on March 23, according to territorial intelligence estimates.
