Pensions: CCI France denounces the impact of “violent” demonstrations on business activity

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry denounce the “unacceptable” degradation of businesses after the enameled demonstrations of violence against the pension reform.

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI France) deplore this Friday the economic impact of the “violent” demonstrations and the “blockades” on the activity of businesses, whose deterioration is also “unacceptable”, the day after a day of mobilization against the pension reform marked by renewed violence.

“Although tensions and clashes appear in various cities in France, problems and blockades affect the activity of merchants despite the fact that their situation continues to be weakened in a delicate economic context,” denounced CCI France in a press release.

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry believe that “after the health crisis and in a period marked by inflation and supply difficulties, our merchants cannot afford to lower the curtain”, recalling that in France, local commerce represents 634,000 companies for 3.5 million jobs. “Si faire grève est un droit, la dégradation des commerces est en revanche unacceptable et répréhensible. Les stigmates et les traces des violentes manifestations à Paris, et plus généralement dans nos centres-villes ces deniers jours, doivent nous alerter”, met en avant network.

“Nearby shops are essential”

“The ICC network demands freedom of trade and movement. Local trade is essential to ensure the basic needs of the population, but also to maintain social ties and life in our territories. The sector is facing it squarely. This is not the time to penalize the contrary, it is necessary to accompany it”, stresses Alain Di Crescenzo, president of CCI France.

In a statement on Wednesday, the CPME (Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises) said that “the spectacle of riots or blockades, apart from responsible and peaceful demonstrations, worries businessmen who fear that a form of disorder will occur.” . .
