On the eve of a tenth day of national mobilization before the call of the inter-union against the pension reform this Tuesday, March 28, this Monday numerous actions and strikes are organized throughout the country to protest against the government project and the use of 49.3. A constitutional weapon that Elisabeth Borne, Prime Minister, has promised not to use again.
• The strike of garbage collectors continues, new neighborhoods affected in Paris
Symbol of the movement against the pension reform for several weeks, the strike of the garbage collectors will continue in Paris. The CGT has submitted a strike notice for Derichebourg employees for an indefinite period.
A piece of news that should have consequences for the collection of waste in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 10th and 18th arrondissements of Paris, managed by this private service provider, and until now safe from the strike of the garbage collectors.
The incineration plants reopened at the same time, the agents having decided to end the movement. In Ivry, the site was requisitioned by the police. A decision qualified as “provocation” by many opponents of the reform, who intend to “retake” the picket line this Monday morning.
• Lack of fuel in certain regions
Another particularly mobilized sector: refineries. Consequence of the strikes: the fuel shortage begins to intensify in several regions. In certain departments, such as Bouches-du-Rhône or Morbihan, more than 30% of the stations were partially or totally out of service on Saturday. Therefore, the authorities ordered searches to unblock the situation.
The administrative court of Rouen rejected this Sunday the request for precautionary measures from the CGT challenging the legality of the searches of strikers at the TotalEnergies refinery in Gonfreville-L’Orcher (Seine-Maritime) operated on Friday by the prefecture.
In his order, the administrative judge considered that the decree of the Seine-Maritime prefect “does not appear manifestly detrimental to the right to strike recognized and protected by the International Labor Organization agreement.”
• Actions throughout France
Finally, on the outskirts of several cities in the country, traffic disruptions are expected, such as in Rouen, where a towing operation has been planned at the La Motte roundabout. In Bayonne, the A63 motorway will be closed to traffic at exit 6 from 4:30 a.m. A decision made by the prefecture due to a planned demonstration against the pension reform.
In schools, the high school inter-union asks young people to participate in “renewable blockades starting on Monday, March 27”, for a week, to protest against the pension reform. As since March 16 and the outbreak of 49.3, spontaneous demonstrations and “surprise” actions in the main cities of the country are not excluded.
On the transport side, the strike continues and Train traffic will remain interrupted this Monday, March 27. As regards the main lines, the SNCF therefore foresees a traffic of 4 TGV Inoui and Ouigo of 5 on average, 2 TER of 3 and 2 Intercités of 3. No night Intercités will circulate as in previous mobilization episodes.
On the political level, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said she wanted to “calm down” with the unions and said she was “available” to meet with them in places other than pensions. In an interview with AFP, she says that she no longer wants to use 49.3 outside of budget texts.
The Head of Government has provided a space in her agenda to possibly receive trade union organizations and employer organizations in the week of April 10.
He will go this Monday noon to the Élysée Palace to present to Emmanuel Macron “the road map of the consultations that he intends to carry out”, then he will do so before the majority leaders.
