“The united inter-union union” will meet on April 5 with Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, at the invitation of the Government, “to demand the withdrawal of the reform” of pensions, the new general secretary of the CGT, Sophie Binet, announced this Friday .
“We will go, the entire inter-union, united, to demand the withdrawal of this reform in a firm and determined manner,” declared Sophie Binet, who was speaking on the rostrum of the CGT congress, where she has just been elected. to succeed Philippe Martinez.
The participation or not of the CGT in the meeting with the President of the Government was the subject of internal discussions. But it is ultimately the line of maintaining the unity of the inter-union that won, the CFDT wishing to participate in the meeting.
“No Suspension”
“We will not give up, there will be no truce, there will be no suspension, there will be no mediation” around the bill, he added, however, thus dismissing the proposals presented last week on behalf of the inter-union by the CFDT leader , Laurent Berger. “We are not going to resume work until this reform is withdrawn,” he said.
On Friday, Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt confirmed that the government will not object to the pension issue being raised during the meeting. However, he indicated that the Government “intended to apply the voted text”, without wanting to prejudge the decision of the Constitutional Council scheduled for April 14 on the constitutionality of the bill approved in the Cortes after an appeal to 49.3.
“It is the withdrawal of this reform that will allow us to finally move on to the real priorities” such as “increasing wages,” he added. “For the first time, employees in this country have salaries that drop in constant euros,” she stressed. The other priorities are “improving working conditions” or “environmental issues,” while “capitalism continues to destroy our planet,” she added.
