The Jiji news agency had reported today that the final conclusion of the new alliance agreement between Renault and Nissan could be postponed until April or even later, due to longer-than-expected discussions on intellectual property and electric vehicles in particular.
Nissan will invest up to 15% in Ampere
The two manufacturers, members of a company founded more than twenty years ago, presented at the beginning of February the general lines of a new alliance for the next fifteen years, based on a more balanced and free relationship but also on greater pooling in new areas . and in certain regions of the world. The agreement, which had been anticipated for some time in early December, was finally unveiled two months later after long weeks of negotiations. The two groups then indicated that the signing of the final documents should take place at the end of the first quarter.
As part of the alliance review, Nissan will also invest up to 15% in Ampère, the French group’s future power entity that must eventually go public. Mitsubishi, the third member of the alliance, is also considering investing there.
