Is the price war over in the French telecommunications market, one of the most competitive in Europe? In fact, runaway inflation has led most operators to recently increase their prices. For Orange customers, the fixed and mobile packages have thus taken from 1 to 2 euros per month.
Guest of BFM Business, Christel Heydemann, CEO of the Orange Group justifies this increase.
Orange “does not compensate for all inflation”
“We are in a context that is very new in Europe, a context of inflation (…) and unfortunately, as all companies are affected by inflation, a 150% increase in energy costs, we have had to increase our prices, from 1 to 2 euros depending on the package. All our customers have been informed,” he explains on the set of Good Business Days this Wednesday.
And emphasize that the operator “does not compensate for all inflation in price increases and we are not the only ones to do so. We are in a very competitive market, I cannot say if there will not be more price wars but there are always promotions, there may be a little less than what we had”.
The manager also specifies that you have to “be vigilant because digital is an essential service. We have a pricing policy to offer the widest range of prices possible (…) we have solidarity offers with prices that we have also lowered, subject to income restrictions.”
