Poland ready to deliver to Kyiv, “in the future”, all its MiG-29 fighters

With deliveries of new South Korean FA-50 and American F-35 jets, ordered by Poland, expected, the old fighters could be supplied to kyiv.

Poland’s president said on Wednesday that his country was ready to deliver its entire fleet of Soviet-designed MiG-29 fighters to kyiv “in the future.” Poland, which has already supplied Ukraine with eight MiG-29s and will send six more soon, “in the future it will be able to transfer its entire MiG fleet to Ukraine”, that is, a total of about thirty aircraft, “subject to an agreement of their allies” in NATO, declared Andrzej Duda, during a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Devices now “adapted to NATO standards”

The Polish head of state explained the need for this green light by the fact that the MiG-29s still in the possession of his country have been “adapted to NATO standards”, in particular with regard to systems communication and the ability to carry out surveillance missions in the airspace of allies.

“We will still need them” but, like expected deliveries of new South Korean FA-50 and US F-35 jets ordered by Poland, the old fighters could be supplied to Kiev. The first of 50 FA-50 fighter jets is expected to arrive in Poland before the end of 2023, while the first of 32 F-35 jets are expected to arrive there next year.
