France will ensure that the decision by the French National Agency for Food Safety (Anses) to ban the use of phosphine in direct contact with cereals does not hinder its exports outside the European Union, the government said on Tuesday.
Last October, the ANSES authorized the use of phosphine to eliminate insects by fumigation as long as the pesticide is not in direct contact with the cereals, a procedure still required by importing countries such as Algeria, Egypt or Morocco.
