“Today, the challenge remains just as strong on this pension reform. It really is time for the government to listen.” Minutes before the departure of the Parisian parade, Laurent Berger, general secretary of the CFDT, reaffirmed his determination towards the Executive, as part of the mobilization against the pension reform.
“The union fight is far from over”
This Thursday marks the twelfth day of demonstrations and strikes to the call of the inter-union, on the eve of the opinion issued by the Constitutional Council. A day that offers many exit doors to its crisis, according to the leader of the CFDT.
“We will see the discussions of the Constitutional Council. If the Constitutional Council dents the law, it will still be necessary to take into account that there are other solutions: the exit of article 10 to redo a new reading in the Assembly and possibly we consider that we can seek a social commitment more than a political object as is the case today, that the President of the Republic chooses not to promulgate this law”, continued the union leader.
A Friday date does not signify a deadline for this move. “We will continue to say, affirming in different ways, without a doubt, our opposition to this pension reform, we can continue to demonstrate, hopefully, but we will discuss it together so that May 1 is a great popular day of Labor Day”, suggested Laurent Berger.
“The union fight is far from over, summed up Laurent Berger. There are also conditions for the implementation of this reform that will arise if it is ever validated, there may be the PIR that can be a formidable tool.”
“A delay of decency”
Regarding the invitation issued by Emmanuel Macron, to which Sophie Binet (CGT) responded with a “hahaha”, Laurent Berger calls for a framing of the discussions. “It can’t be that I summon you, you come, without us being able to explain ourselves and have elements about what methods of discussion and consultation, what issues you want to deal with, and all this cannot be done in a hurry the next day or the day after a promulgation” , recalled Laurent Berger, who also said that “the CFDT will go where it can improve the situation of the workers. ” “This cannot be done without decency,” said Laurent Berger.
