“Official supplier of the pharaohs”: EDF ironically analyzes the controversy over Gims and the pyramids

In an ad published in Le Parisien on Thursday, electrician EDF mocked singer Gims’s theory that the pharaohs would have had electricity.

EDF has a sense of humor. The electrician kindly mocked, this Thursday, the controversy sparked by the statements of the singer Gims who, earlier in the week, had stated that the pyramids would have served as antennas in the time of the pharaohs.

EDF thus published an advertising page in the newspaper Le Parisien on Thursday, sarcastically describing itself as the “official supplier of the pharaohs since -2000 BC”.

“No, Mr. Gims, not yet,” is written in smaller print on the ad page, with a photo of two pyramids in the background. “But we are sure that if electricity had existed in the time of the pharaohs, they would certainly have chosen us,” EDF jokes.

A theory that has been around for several years.

In an interview dated March 22, which has gone viral on social media, Gims put forward many conspiracy theories, claiming in particular that the Egyptians would have had access to electricity in ancient times.

“At the time of the Kush Empire, there was electricity. The pyramids we see, at the top is gold! Gold is the best conductor of electricity. C They were bloody antennas and historians know it,” he says.

This theory according to which the pharaohs had electricity is not really new and has been spreading on the web for several years. However, it is false.

“No, the pharaohs did not know electricity and we have no evidence, neither in the texts nor in the archaeological reality of the presence of gold in the pyramids,” recalls the Egyptologist Claude Traunecker to the BFMTV microphone.
