Antoine Arnault describes the intrusion of protesters into the LVMH headquarters as “unfair”

“We are part of the solution and not part of the problem,” Bernard Arnault’s eldest son said of the railway workers’ intrusion into the LVMH headquarters.

The son of Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, spoke at the first general meeting of Christian Dior SE since his appointment in December as vice president of the board of directors and general director of the holding.

Intrusion of railway workers into the LVMH headquarters

Asked by a shareholder about the break-in at the LVMH headquarters on April 13 by railway workers and other workers on strike against the pension reform, Antoine Arnault denounced the “violence” of this action, alleging that a security guard Security had been burned in the face.

“Everything that is read about wealth and fortune is misrepresented. When we talk about wealth, we are not talking about available money, it is the value of society (LVMH) that is increasing,” he added, implicating “the media.”

The world’s first fortune

In early April, Bernard Arnault and his family were named the world’s top fortune by Forbes magazine in its annual ranking for 2023.

In addition, Bernard Arnault, 74, will be able to remain president of Christian Dior SE holding, which controls world number one luxury LVMH, until he is 80, according to a vote by the general assembly.

The shareholders voted 99.99% in favor of amending the bylaws setting the age limit to exercise the functions of chairman of the board of directors at 80 years (instead of 75 up to now).

In the first quarter, LVMH’s sales continued their momentum, exceeding €21 billion in turnover after record €79 billion in sales and €14 billion in net profit in 2022.
