The shield on electricity prices, extended by one year for individuals, will not be extended “for the moment” for companies, said the Delegate Minister for Industry, Roland Lescure, on Sunday, while hinting that the situation would be reviewed. in autumn.
“Today we have a calendar that Europe has dictated to us about companies, which allows us to set up what is called the counter until the end of 2023,” Roland Lescure told the France 3 channel.
The Government has announced this Friday its decision to protect households from the fluctuations of the electricity market for another year, extending until the beginning of 2025 the tariff shield implemented in October 2021 to limit bill increases, when it was only planned until the beginning of 2025 end of 2023.
“If in the fall we realize that we need it, we will do it”
Asked about a possible extension for companies, the minister replied: “not at the moment.”
“Electricity, gas have dropped a lot (…). “So, today, companies don’t need help,” explained Roland Lescure.
“Obviously, as we did last year, if in the fall we realize that we need it, we will do it and we will do it in a European framework, that is normal,” he said and continued.
Asked about the idea of a “review clause” for companies, he replied “exactly.”
The increase in the regulated electricity rate, capped by the State through subsidies, was 4% in 2022 and 15% in 2023.
