The number of companies created in France increased by 1.2% in March after having already increased by 2% in February, according to data published on Tuesday by INSEE. The creation of companies thus continued its good moment for the second consecutive month with some 87,405 companies created in March, compared to 86,665 in February.
We note an increase in particular in the business support sectors (+2.6% after +2.4%) and industry (+8.5% after +18.5%), reports the National Institute of Statistics and Studies cheap. Conversely, they fell again in transport and storage (-6.2% after -2.8% in February) -which had benefited from positive dynamics during the health crisis- and also fell in information and communication (- 4.2% after + 3.8% in February).
Compared to the first quarter of last year, the creation of companies in all sectors decreased (-0.4%), especially in the education, health and social work sectors, where the INSEE recorded 4,000 fewer creations, a contribution of – 1.4 points. However, these sectors experienced an increase in March compared to February (+2.9% compared to -3.9%).
Difficulties with the single window for commercial procedures
Also note in this first quarter of 2023, the increase in registrations of micro-enterprises, which represent 63.1% of the companies created in this period, compared to 60.6% (+2.5%) between April 2021 and March 2022 and 61.4% (+1.7%) between April 2022 and March 2023.
However, the published data must “be” interpreted with great caution”, stresses the INSEE. This instability is explained by the establishment on January 1, 2023 of a single window for business procedures (creation, cessation of activity, modification of the statutes), which experienced many difficulties.
The single window, which replaced six networks of commercial processing centers, should be fully operational by the end of June.
