The back-to-school bonus (ARS), which is paid to families with at least one child between the ages of 6 and 18, subject to means testing, increased by 1.5% on average on April 1.
This economic boost, intended for some 3 million households so that they can meet school expenses, which include supplies, equipment and clothing, is distributed every year around the month of August.
A slight increase for the start of the 2023 school year
The amount of the ARS, which had already risen by 4% in August 2022, therefore experiences a new increase that represents a little more than 6 euros per child. The amount paid varies according to the age of the children. Who can benefit from this subsidy?
Regarding the conditions to obtain this subsidy from the Family Assignment Funds or the Mutual Social Agraria, very specific income criteria must be met.
For households with a dependent child, their tax base must not exceed 25,775 euros, while the maximum limit is 31,723 euros for families with two children and 37,671 euros for those with three. Finally, for households with four dependent children, the ceiling is set at 43,619 euros.
“If the household’s resources exceed these limits by very little, you may be eligible for a differential back-to-school subsidy, also calculated in relation to your income,” specifies the Servicio-Público site. For the next school year, it is the 2021 income that will determine who will be able to benefit from this aid.
