In France, commitment to healthcare innovation

[CONTENU PARTENAIRE] A priority of the public powers, innovation in the field of the health sector is plural. It brings together both research and new services that digital technologies now offer to patients.

Innovation in health is at the center of the concerns of the French public authorities. Within the framework of the Ségur de la Santé plan, the State has released 19,000 million euros, including 7,500 million to finance projects to transform the healthcare supply and 2,000 million euros for digital. On the other hand, 7,000 million euros are dedicated to research within the framework of the France 2030 plan.

Public investment, an advantage for French research

A public commitment welcomed by Aaron Bensimon, co-founder and CEO of Genomic Vision, a French biotech company that develops high value-added products and services dedicated to the analysis and control of genome modifications. For the latter, “unlike others, the French system, which is largely based on public funding, allows research to be at the forefront in the field of health innovation. This allows players in France to work on projects that last 4 years, but may not come to fruition. A risk that remains very unlikely when the investigation is based solely on private investment.

Digitization at the service of the patient

However, as Thibaut Guibal, a partner at the consultancy Atawao Healthcare, which specializes in the sector’s digital transition, points out, innovation in health is far from being confined solely to the research sector. “Today, innovation also means supporting patients in a more global way, beyond the treatments offered by laboratories and doctors,” he explains. In this context, digital technology plays a fundamental role. Let’s take the example of the hospital, the latter continues. The latter, as we know, is degraded, both from the point of view of its facilities and its resources. Digital technology is the basis for many innovations that provide patients with a good level of services.”

New professions appear

But innovation also means the emergence of new professions. Example with Thierry Supplie, President of Formations Thierry Supplie. The latter is a dentist, a profession that, until now, did not exist in France. “The dentist is a dental technician who, after having completed training, partially accesses the trades of dental surgeon. He will thus be able to equip patients with removable dental appliances ”. In fact, the appearance of the dentist will allow both to decongest dental offices and to facilitate interventions abroad, such as in nursing homes or nursing homes.

Without a doubt, innovation in dental health now plays an important role in France. And that is just the beginning. To be continued then…
