The Government will present its measures against tax fraud on Tuesday, followed by those against social fraud at the end of the month. “Next week I will present the measures to combat tax fraud and at the end of the month” those “against social fraud”, declared this Friday morning the Minister Delegate for Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, on BFMTV-RMC.
“We need to be more efficient”
However, tax evasion, whose amounts are much higher, is equated to social fraud. “Whether it’s a euro in tax that you have to pay and don’t pay, or a euro in social security that you receive when you shouldn’t, it’s one euro less for public finances,” responded Gabriel Attal.
The tax administration collected 14.6 billion euros in 2022, while Urssaf recovered 800 million euros in unpaid social security contributions. “We must be even more efficient,” said Gabriel Attal. In particular, the number of tax judicial officials, specialists in the fight against fraud, could be doubled.
