Around 150 to 200 people demonstrated near the Palace of Versailles on Monday to protest against the pension reform, while Emmanuel Macron took part in the “Choose France” event, which brought together more than 200 foreign bosses. Gathered at noon on the esplanade of the Versailles-Chantiers station, the demonstrators came from the CGT, FO, SUD or even Yvelines student unions. The Yvelines CGT had launched a call of this type “to demand the repeal” of the pension reform.

Between pans and whistles, the protesters chanted “Macron resign!”, “Emmanuel Macron president of the employers” or even “Here we are.” “We have been fighting against the pension reform for 4 months, today our dear president, with the Medef representatives, is at the Palace of Versailles so we will try to greet them”, said Arnaud Thuon, union representative of the CGT. railway station at Versailles, vowing to “keep making noise to be heard”.
However, in the face of a strong police force, the protesters stayed away from the castle.
The sixth edition of the “Choose France” summit organized at the Palace of Versailles aims to attract foreign investment to the country. The head of state receives more than 200 big heads of foreign multinationals, including the American billionaire Elon Musk.
