The United States could default as soon as June 1 if an agreement is not reached in Congress to raise the debt ceiling, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned again on Monday, citing updated data.
This June 1 date was released in early May and stuck to Monday, “with additional information now available,” Janet Yellen said in a letter to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.
He is scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden on Tuesday to try to reach a deal on the debt ceiling.
