In the confrontation between distributors and manufacturers over the renegotiation of food prices, farmers have taken sides: that of the agri-food groups. Arnaud Rousseau, president of the FNSEA but also of the Avril group, owner of the Lesieur oil brand, also pointed out that the price reductions on the industrial side were not transferred to supermarkets. Dominique Schelcher, head of System U, justified himself on BFMTV Tuesday morning.
Lesieur has lowered its tariffs on sunflower oil from 18 to 20%
“Lesieur lowered his sunflower oil prices on March 1 by between 18 and 20%. If we take into account that there were some stocks in supermarkets, we should see a drop from mid-April of that order,” Arnaud Rousseau explained in RTL on Monday. However, that brand’s sunflower oil prices would have fallen by only around 4%.
The question was asked Tuesday morning by the head of Sistema U, who denied having taken advantage of it to inflate the margins of his stores. “The price drop comes in May, it is sold in stores,” said Dominique Schelcher.
shares to sell
Justify this delay by a latency period. “Between the time of negotiation and implementation there is a bit of administrative time on the one hand and on the other hand there are sometimes stocks,” he explained.
“The movement is already underway,” he says again before stating that Lesieur sunflower oils will be offered “up to 20% cheaper” in his stores.
Dominique Schelcher, for her part, blamed the big manufacturers who refuse to renegotiate prices downward while the French have been suffering from double-digit food inflation for several months and the prices of raw materials and other products have recently fallen, which would reasonably justify reviewing the prices. .
