Taxes: what is the term to declare the income?

Households that declare their income on paper have until May 22 at 11:59 p.m. to send their model to the Treasury. For online returns, the dates depend on your department.

Beware of delays. Households that declare their income in paper format have until Monday, May 22 at 11:59 p.m. to send their completed form to the tax authorities, “certain the postmark,” specifies the General Directorate of Public Finance. Last year, 4.5 million tax households out of a total of 39 million were affected.

As a reminder, online tax filing has been mandatory since 2019, but taxpayers who do not have internet access or cannot use the online filing service can still opt for the paper form.

Households that report their income online will have a little more time. For departments 1 to 19 and non-residents, the deadline is May 25 at 11:59 p.m. For departments 20 to 54, on June 1 at 11:59 p.m. Finally, departments 55 to 974/976 have until June 8 at 11:59 p.m. to declare their income.

Sanctions in case of delay

It is better to file your return on time. And rightly so, taxpayers who declare their income after the deadline incur a penalty of 10% in the absence of notification, 20% in case of untimely filing of the declaration within 30 days of notification and 40% if The return has not been filed within 30 days of receipt of a formal notification.

Remember, however, that more than 10 million tax households eligible for automatic declaration will have nothing to do. If your situation has not changed in 2022, it will be worth validating the absence of a response from them to your pre-filled declaration.
