The Portuguese economy today is “clearly a competitive, internationalized economy, strongly oriented towards the outside world and that alone explains why, for the first time in our history, 50% of our gross domestic product (GDP) comes from exports,” he said. declared, referring to the year 2022.

Costa stressed that this level of exports was achieved in a year “when GDP was not small”, with a growth of 6.7%, “the third highest growth in the entire European Union”, adding that in the first half of this year , the country is maintaining “a strong growth rate”.

“That’s why when things are going well, you should not change paths, continue on this path, try to follow this path with more energy, with more strength, with more determination,” he said.

António Costa focused on the presence of Algerian businessmen at the Portugal-Algeria Economic Forum, highlighting that Algeria is the “fourth largest African economy” and calling on Portuguese companies to take the opportunity to develop in that market.

“What we need to understand is that we have the doors open for us to have another opportunity to strengthen your capacity to grow, it means for the country to develop, to be more prosperous, to generate more jobs and better incomes and prosperity,” he said as Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune listened to him in the audience.
