Business credit is going well

This is in any case what emerges from the annual report of the Financing Observatory, which is released this Tuesday.

The market remains dynamic, the total number of current loans granted to companies continued to grow by 6.4% in one year, according to the latest annual report from the Financing Observatory, although there are some points to take into account.

Regarding BFM Business, this is confirmed by Frédéric Visnovsky, national credit mediator for the Banque de France. “Companies have been resilient, we have access to financing that remains dynamic even though there are service points,” he explained this Tuesday in Buenos Días Negocios.

In fact, the VSEs have a little more difficulty getting into debt than a year ago, obtaining their loans in 67% of the cases. This is 8 points less than at the end of last year. For SMEs, on the other hand, there is no problem, they obtain their loans in 85% of the cases.

“The cash credit of the VSEs is a point of attention. 67% is the historical rate, so at this stage it is not an element of concern, but it is an element of vigilance. It is the consequence of monetary policy, it is quite logical that we have a slowdown in credit”, continues Frédéric Visnovsky.

In general, companies are doing well.

So at this stage, the French banks have not closed the floodgates on credit, unlike what is happening elsewhere, in the US in particular.

Proof that there are no major difficulties, the national credit mediator barely receives 150 referrals per month, which is very little.

It must be said that in general the companies are doing well, all the problems that were feared after the Covid crisis did not materialize.

Bankruptcies are certainly on the rise, but for the moment we remain at levels below those prior to the Covid crisis.

Nor is there any major difficulty in terms of PGE repayments, the vast majority of companies, 95% of them, repay without difficulty and more than a third of the amounts borrowed have already been repaid.

Few companies, only 671, have asked to take advantage of the PGE friendly restructuring scheme launched by Bercy a year and a half ago.
