Miguel Maya highlights Christopher de Beck’s contribution to the development of BCP

Millennium bcp’s executive chairman lamented the death of former vice-chairman Christopher de Beck on Thursday, highlighting his “most relevant” contribution to the bank’s development, namely because he was “a pioneer in the intense integration of technology”.

Christopher de Beck, former vice president of BCP, passed away this morning at the age of 77, Filipe Pinhal, the bank’s former administrator, told Lusa.

“It is with regret that I inform you that Dr. Christopher de Beck, former Executive Director and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, passed away today, a person who made an important contribution to the building and development of Banco Comercial Português”, says Miguel Maya, in a statement published today on the bank’s internal portal.

“Of the many relevant contributions in the various areas of the bank that he coordinated, I would particularly like to highlight the fact that his work is still indelibly felt in the culture of BCP, as he pioneered the intense integration of technology in the business models and processes to expand offerings and simplify customer interactions with the bank”, continues the CEO of Millenium BCP.

Indeed, “Many of those who had the opportunity to work directly with him, as I did, certainly remember his foresight in reading the evolution of trends, the importance he placed on innovation, the ability to provoke, listen and reinforce and the determination that he has ensured the implementation of the action plans,” he said.

In addition to his professional qualities, “on a personal level I would highlight his human depth, his vast culture, the depth of his reflections and the attention he always paid to those who interacted with him,” underlines Miguel Maya.

In this “very difficult time for family and friends, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Banco Comercial Português, I leave a sincere condolences and a letter of thanks for the legacy he has left us”, concludes the manager.

The vigil will take place today from 5:30 p.m. in Lisbon’s Basilica da Estrela and the funeral will be on Friday, according to Servilusa.
