Mike Tyson is one of the most recognizable names in boxing history and there are many reasons for that. His dominance as a fighter has certainly contributed to his legendary status, but there are also many stories about Tyson (such as how he meets the Poison Toad) that delve into the mystique surrounding him and make him polarizing and intriguing. Much of this is shown in the first look at the next Hulu series. miguelwhich features Don King, white tigers and earphones (oh my god).
Starting August 25, Hulu subscribers will be able to watch showrunner Karin Gist’s limited series, which documents the professional, personal and controversial life of “Iron” Mike Tyson. Trevante Rhodes plays Tyson and he looks good, especially in this scene where he proudly poses with one of Tyson’s signature white tigers. Fun Fact: Tyson slept with his tigers at one point, but had to chase them away after they farted too much. It’s not exactly the number one reason I would stop sleeping with a tiger, but I can definitely say it would be on a list of many reasons I wouldn’t.
Other highlights presented at miguel The trailer shows the fighters meeting the famous and infamous boxing promoter Don King. They originally started out as an iconic duo of boxers and promoters at the time, but years later their relationship soured. Tyson eventually sued King for allegedly scamming him for millions of dollars. It will be interesting to see how miguel comes close to their relationship and how far it will develop in the limited series.
We also see him biting another great boxer, Evander Holyfield, in the middle of the fight, which is a moment that ultimately plagued Mike Tyson’s career. The bite went down in boxing history as one of the sport’s weirdest moments and resulted in Tyson temporarily losing his professional boxing license. Ultimately, it’s one of the most famous stories of Tyson’s career, so it’s no surprise that he stands out in miguelThis trailer is especially true given recent events.
These moments, and even the less pleasant moments in Tyson’s story, such as his time in prison, seem to be part of this story. It also looks like we’ll be receiving stories from the wrestler’s early years, no doubt enriching the humble beginnings that ultimately led him to be one of the most recognizable athletes in the world (and a beloved part of Shark Week). Overall, this should be an engaging and potentially engaging story to get people talking when it comes out.
