“As of March 31, 2023, the producers of cinematographic works (feature films and short films) and audiovisual works (series and units), belonging to the fiction and documentary genre, must provide the carbon footprint of the works at the time of their production. aid requests,” the CNC announced in a press release.
In particular, it will be necessary to calculate the CO2 emitted during filming (transport, dining room, technical means, etc.) and post-production.
Animation and video games
And as of January 1, 2024, the provision of this carbon footprint will condition the allocation of public aid, he added. This measure is part of a plan to help the film and audiovisual sector reduce its carbon emissions.
The obligation will be extended in a second period “to animated, immersive works and video games.”
The CNC began to condition its aid in 2021 in another area, that of sexual and gender-based violence, conditioning the obtaining of its funds to training in harassment prevention.
