On hold since the accidental shooting of Alec Baldwin on set, which claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins in October 2021, filming will resume next January. This is the result of an agreement reached between the production and the family of the director of photography, who died at the age of 42.
“I have no interest in getting into recriminations or finding culprits,” Matthew Hutchins, her husband, said in a press release released by the hollywood reporter. “We all believe that Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful to the producers and the entertainment community, who have come together to honor Halyna’s definitive work.”
Matthew Hutchins will serve as executive producer. Luke Nikas, attorney for Alec Baldwin, says, “Throughout this difficult process, everyone has been committed to doing what’s best for Halyna’s son.”
“All the main protagonists” return
This agreement, the amount of which has not been disclosed, ends the civil legal process initiated by the family of Halyna Hutchins against Alec Baldwin. It still has to be validated by a judge. However, an investigation is still ongoing and may lead to possible criminal prosecution, as the New Mexico Attorney General recalled on Wednesday.
The same press release specifies that filming will resume “with all the main original protagonists.” What to suppose that the director Joel Souza, injured during the accident, will be back.
The filming of this western had turned tragic on October 21, 2021 on a ranch in Santa Fe (New Mexico) when Alec Baldwin had activated a weapon that supposedly contained only toy bullets but whose projectile had mortally wounded Halyna Hutchins.
