“Fear”, “stress”, “abuse”… Technicians of So far everything is going welltestifies in a Mediapart survey published this Sunday, the climate that reigned on the set of the Netflix series by and with Nawell Madani.
They denounce very difficult conditions, which the presence on the set of a “reference” sent by Netflix did not mitigate.
Speaking anonymously for fear of reprisals, several technicians particularly evoke the climate of tension that reigned on the set, fueled by Nawell Madani’s attitude.
“Permanent Tension”
“Nawell was yelling every day and all of a sudden the whole set went to work, he conjures up a technician, there was constant tension.”
And if the two main actresses of the series, Kahina Carina and Carima Amarouche, contacted by Mediapart, evoke “normal” shooting conditions and a “respectful and professional” director, the young actress Locatelli Paola also hinted during the promotion of the series, in the question box of Canal+, an environment that is not always serene.
“Sometimes she would be hard, sometimes there would be a little scream, she would calm down, then there would be big screams, her eardrum would burn, and then afterward she would say ‘sorry, I’m sorry’.”
Other members of the technical team denounce dangerous conditions, such as that of this sound technician embarked in the trunk of a car driven by an actress who did not have a license. Or exhausting untimely changes, as a member of the decoration team tells us.
“The suit was too big”
Some members of the team attribute this shooting atmosphere to the excessively heavy responsibilities assumed by Nawell Madani, who is at the same time creator, actress, screenwriter, producer and director of the series.
“Netflix left all the power to Nawell, who was tired but also inexperienced to fill all these positions. They put her there because she’s famous, because she has millions of subscribers, but she didn’t have the shoulders and that’s what we paid the price for.” , describes an employee interviewed by Mediapart.
This pressure and this stress, Nawell Madani herself mentioned it during the promotion of the series. Last April, at the time of the launch of So far everything is going wellhe confided to BFMTV.com “I had a really hard time finishing this series.”
And he added bluntly: “It brings between 7 and 9 useful minutes a day, I did not know this rhythm,” he added. “And then acting, directing, writing, producing and hosting, frankly, the costume was too big. Clearly, we had all underestimated the workload.”
