Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed this week that he nearly died after his third open-heart surgery, a valve replacement performed just before the filming of Terminator: Dark Fate (2019).
In a new YouTube video, the former California governor recalls waking up after surgery and hearing doctors warn him that the procedure had caused internal bleeding:
“[Ils m’ont dit] they had not anticipated this at all. They told me that they had made a mistake and pierced the wall of my heart and that they had to cut me open quickly to save my life. It was terrifying.”
“It was a disaster”
The Hollywood star reveals that he had a difficult time recovering from the operation. The video shows him walking using a walker and leaning on a ramp. “It was a disaster. I was going through a disaster,” he explains.
Arnold Schwarzenegger struggled to get better: “I looked like a fool in the halls, but the doctor told me I had to strengthen my lungs because I could die if I got pneumonia.”
The 76-year-old actor is still very active in film and television. He just hosted the series on Netflix. fubar and a documentary about his career. He also embarked on a career as a wellness influencer with a newsletter.
