Tim Burton denounces the development of artificial intelligence. While screenwriters and actors are on strike in Hollywood to protest against its use in films and series, the director confided his opposition to this tool in an interview given this weekend to The independent.
“They asked artificial intelligence to create my version of Disney characters,” he took offense in reaction to a Buzzfeed article published this summer. “I can’t describe how I felt when I found out all this. It reminded me of what they say in other cultures: ‘Don’t take my photo, you’ll take away your soul.'”
And he added: “What happens is that it steals something from you. It steals something from your soul or your psyche. It’s very disturbing, especially if it has to do with you. C “It’s like a robot that steals your soul, your humanity.”
“It terrifies me”
Last March, Steven Spielberg said he was “very uncomfortable” with works that use generative artificial intelligence:
“Blade […] it cannot be created by any algorithm. It is simply something that exists in each of us. Losing that because books, movies or music are created by machines, that terrifies me.”
James Cameron, for his part, declared to the channel in July CTV News: “The use of AI as a weapon is the biggest threat. I think we will replicate with AI what we did in the nuclear arms race. [pendant la guerre froide, NDLR]. “If we don’t work on this, others will do it for us and it will escalate.”
