Spoiler alert! This story contains spoilers for the Post 19 Premiere of the sixth season, “Twist and Shout”. Proceed at your own risk!
Our favorite Seattle firefighters are back Post 19The Season 6 premiere has the same six-month time jump as the main series. Grey’s Anatomyneed to recover some final events of the fifth season . The biggest question mark appeared to be Jack Gibson (Gray Damon), who abruptly left the firehouse as he struggled with new information about his native family. Well, Jack appeared in “Twist and Shout”, but in the most unexpected way, so while we’re relieved he’s still around, showrunner Krista Vernoff warned fans not to celebrate too much for now.
After the tornado cut down a tree on what turned out to be the home of Eva Vásquez (Kelly Thiebaud), the widow of former firefighter at Station 19 Rigo , the team were shocked to find Jack in Eva’s bed, and even more shocked (and amused) when they realized he had been handcuffed there. It was a watershed moment for Jack, as his former colleagues expressed disappointment that he was withdrawn on the matter and Krista Vernoff told him Term there is no silver bullet for what Jack is going through. The showrunner said:
One of the things we always prefer to do in Shondaland is to watch what happens to people when they enter their darker versions of themselves, when, as you say, they hit rock bottom. When people wondered if he was coming back, I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is our favorite story. But we’re not rushing him to the station, because he’s in deep pain and comforting himself through that pain in a truly disturbing way. And helping him become someone who can function in a work environment again will take time.
Looks like we might see Jack go back to the fire station some period, but ever since he lied to Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) about where he had been in the last few months and started a relationship with Rigo’s widow again, plus the terrible way he dumped Maya (Danielle Savre) and Carina ( Stefania Spampinato) after agreeing to help them create a family; It looks like Jack hasn’t finished trying to burn all his bridges yet.
However, Andy said at the end of the episode that he would help him, whether he wanted to or not. Additionally, Fire Chief Natasha Ross (new regular series Merle Dandridge ) also said that when Jack was ready to return, they would provide him with the help he needed. So there is at least one support system when he’s ready.
Jack took a heartbreaking turn in the final episodes of last season, when she met her biological brother, only to find that he was the only one of her parents’ five children to be given up for adoption. Additionally, while he grew up with a string of abusive adoptive parents, his four biological siblings lived privileged lives. This happened after Jack was already faltering death of principal miller and the end of his relationship with Inara.
It’s great that Gray Damon is still on the show and his character still has a family on Station 19, even if he doesn’t want to recognize him. We’ll have to see how Jack’s story unfolds, but it looks like it’s going to be a long and winding road, but hopefully without further heartbreaking revelations.
Post 19 will return to ABC for its next episode on Thursday, October 13th. Be sure to check ours TV program 2022 to see what other shows are coming up.
