Sophia Loren was urgently hospitalized this Sunday after suffering multiple fractures, including one in the neck of her femur. Injuries linked to fall at her Swiss home this weekend, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
According to the specialized magazine, the legendary Italian actress, who only turned 89 on September 20, fell in her bathroom. She has since suffered several hip fractures and a femoral neck fracture that required surgery.
“Cautious optimism”
A source close to the actress told the magazine her “cautious optimism” about the outcome of the operation and the recovery of Sophia Loren, who will leave in the coming days to convalesce before beginning a rehabilitation process.
The news was revealed by a restaurant that bears his name and was going to open this Tuesday in Bari, Italy. The actress was also going to become an honorary citizen of the city, but for the moment all of her professional commitments have been cancelled.
Sophia Loren’s last public appearance dates back to September 2 during an Armani fashion show organized during the Venice Film Festival. She recently returned to the cinema with the film The life ahead (2020), broadcast on Netflix.
