The cast of Joel Schumacher’s blockbuster vampire movie The missing child was stacked up to the gills, pairing the two Coreys in another movie and pitting them against Keifer Sutherland, Alex Winter, Jami Gertz and, well … a character I’ll protect in case I haven’t seen him yet. He is easily one of the best horror movies of my childhood, and that stands the test of time thanks to positive word of mouth and generations of fans who share the film with friends and family. Warner Bros. recently released a 4K restore of The missing child to celebrate the film and gave us the opportunity to talk to Corey Feldman about it the moments that traumatized him during the filming of the film, and how different the film would have been had original director Richard Donner remained in the director’s chair (one of the ten lost children facts maybe you don’t know). And in the meantime, Feldman gave us an update on the film’s most popular character.
There is a time, in the beginning The missing child, when new Californians Michael (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim) attend a concert on the dock. There is a band playing on stage and their shirtless singer plays the saxophone between the lyrics. It’s probably the best saxophone you’ve ever seen on screen. So when we sit down with The missing child co-stars Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, we had to ask them if they ever had a chance to meet the man, and Feldman told Gossipify:
Oh yes, of course we LOVE Tim Cappello. Or you can call it ‘Sweat Sax Guy’, whatever you like. Tim is really great. He is very funny, he is a hoot. He is a very nice guy. Believe it or not, he still plays the saxophone, he is still shirtless and still wears the dog collar around his neck. And he gets fat at every concert. He is fantastic. Hey, if he’s not broke, don’t fix him.
Maybe you don’t remember the “sweaty saxophonist” of The missing child. Which I find it hard to believe. But here’s his main scene from the classic film. To touch East endlessly
Hollywood has tried, over the years, to keep The missing child living franchise. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander played their famous characters from The Frog Brothers in a few sequels. There were plans for a lost children Remake and rumors of a Lost Boys TV show it never happened. Part of me wouldn’t mind seeing someone else try to bring the story to life, or even bring some of the classic characters back to life to rekindle interest in the series. It might even give Alex Winter a chance share more stories about Tim Cappello . It’s the kind of impact man has had on a generation, simply by turning his hips and playing his saxophone.
Since it won’t happen anytime soon, check out this list of all horror movie coming soon go to the movies and hopefully satisfy your need for cinematic fears.
