Chicago PD star Benjamin Levy Aguilar talks about Torres’ intense transformation, plus Upton’s “beautiful” moments that have been cut

Spoilers ahead for episode 4 of Chicago police Season 10, titled “Where Do You Live”.

Chicago police officially entered the post-Halstead era in season 10, and “Where You Live” was a fast-paced episode that explored Dante Torres and why he’s the way he is as a cop. The shocking murder of a loved one brought the intelligence unit to the Torres neighborhood and he had to try to use his contacts with friends and family to solve the case. It was an incredible deal for the inexperienced cop to handle, and new regular series Benjamin Levy Aguilar spoke to Gossipify about Torres’ transformation at the end … and the scenes with Upton that fans couldn’t see.

The episode ended with Torres facing the threat that something bad could happen to his mother if they stayed in the neighborhood, and the young cop more or less collapsed and took off his badge and gun to fight with a man who eventually he broke his control. After a rather brutal beating, it’s safe to say Torres won this bout, but it wasn’t a happy ending. Benjamin Levy Aguilar explained how his character will be different after “Donde Vives” ends, saying:

I really think there is a transformation. This is a time of transformation, change your priorities. It feels different. There is so much, [so] many gray areas. There is no black and white, and he tries his best to protect the people in his neighborhood, but mostly to find out who killed Provi, who was such an important person to him. While he was trying to do the right thing, he hurt so many people he loved.

While Torres and the rest of the team managed to close the case and get justice for Provi, there was serious collateral damage for the inexperienced cop and the people he loved in the neighborhood. He stayed on track during the investigation (at least by intelligence standards), but the episode didn’t exactly end well for him. The actor continued:

There was also a moment when I thought, “They will never understand me and what I am doing may be greater than me or them”, because there is a reason why it is doing it, because there was no one. to help him when needed. So there is definitely a shift in priorities and even more of a transformation like, “I’ll give it my all, in my integrity and what I believe in.”

Torres clearly went through a tipping point at the end of “Donde Vives” and only time will tell if his character will be noticeably different as season 10 progresses. “Donde Vives” was a showcase for Benjamin Levy Aguilar who filled many slots. void in his character, whose backstory was only mentioned when Aguilar appeared as a guest. as a temporary partner of Halstead in season 9. (You can re-broadcast this episode with a peacock subscription .)

Of course, Jesse Lee Soffer’s departure means Torres no longer has Halstead as a mentor which brought him into the intelligence unit, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar also talked about How Halstead’s absence affects Torres . “Where You Live” gave Torres at least some time with most of the intelligence cops, Burgess and Ruzek gave him some advice while Atwater and Voight were more involved with him. He even had a moment with Platt!

It should be noted, however, that Torres didn’t have a face-to-face moment with Upton. In fact, most of the unit’s members seemed to give her a lot of space after her husband joined the army. and off to Bolivia . After Torres didn’t have a moment with Upton in this episode, Benjamin Levy Aguilar revealed that there were actually plans for some interactions that didn’t make it to the final cut. Asked if fans can expect Upton / Torres interactions, the actor shared:

i really hope. By the way, there were some good times with him and Upton. I just think it was just a lack of time. We wanted to put this in because there is also something in common, as if they both adore Halstead, [laughs] very differently. There is a strong connection with Halstead, and there were actually some good times with Upton and Torres that, unfortunately, due to the weather, didn’t happen. But I think the relationship and the chemistry are there, and I really hope and have a good feeling that they will have a wonderful time together.

So, Chicago police they predicted “good times” for Upton and Torres after losing the man they both love (in very different ways), but they never made it to the screen for “Where You Live”. However, Aguilar is thrilled in hopes of getting some of those moments with Tracy Spiridakos as Upton, so fans can cross their fingers to see them share some scenes after Torres’ transformation.

You can expect new episodes of Chicago police Wednesdays at 10pm ET on NBC, and I can’t wait to do it more than two new characters in the first part of the season. However, a Chicago is already going strong this fall. Stoplight tragically killed a character Yes Medicinal It is done prepare the ground for the game other.
