This week, beloved actress Angela Lansbury passed away at the age of 96. The veteran star amassed a lot of credits over his 80-year career, but was probably best known to the masses for her role in Disney’s animated classic. The beauty and the Beast and for starring in the long-awaited television series The murder he wrote. To say that Lansbury was a stage and screen icon would be an understatement. And since his passing was reported, many stars, including Hugh Jackman and Josh Gad, have paid tribute to him for his many contributions to the entertainment industry.
Hugh Jackman, who like Angela Lansbury had a successful theater career, recognized the impact it had on the theater community. Lansbury has won six Tony Awards over the course of her career for her performances in shows such as gypsy (1975) and Sweeney Todd: The evil barber of Fleet Street (1979). Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis also paid tribute to Angela Lansbury in a healthy tweet that praised her vast legacy. She referred to Lansbury, who received an honorary Oscar in 2014, in the words you can read below:
