Elvis Presley adaptation
engrave my heart is an adaptation in French by Jean Fauque, a famous lyricist who worked especially with Alain Bashung, of the Elvis Presley classic love me Tender. The title was originally rehearsed and recorded in anticipation of the 1996 Las Vegas show and one of the resulting albums, Destination Vegas. But “The idol of young people”, as he was nicknamed in the beginning, did not choose this piece either for the live show or for the album.
“As crazy as it may seem, it was on a rehearsal tape and had not been digitized. Johnny had never told me about it, he must have forgotten it himself,” Yvan Cassar confided to AFP a few weeks ago.
However, the two men talked for hours about this title from the “King”, Johnny’s founder, who had seen and heard it as a teenager at the cinema in the film of the same title. love me Tender, starring Elvis as an actor-singer. During the show in Las Vegas, Johnny will perform it in its original version, in English.

After isolating the vocal track, Yvan Cassar set it with new orchestration, maintaining Johnny’s “breath”. “We feel in this song his relationship with life, there is maturity, an abandonment,” says the arranger.
This new release comes two weeks after the release of another hitherto unknown song, A shout. It was presented by his last record label, Warner, as part of Made in Rock’n’Rollan album that compiles ten other well-known songs by the singer.
