Fluffy is back! Cabaret superstar Gabriel Iglesias filled Dodger’s Stadium for the recording of his latest Netflix special, Soft phase. Being a native of Southern California, bringing his lines to the iconic sports venue is a feat he could never dream of. So where to go from here? I recently caught up with Gabriel Iglesias to talk about the special, and as it appears to have peaked on Earth, the only place to go from here is up high. He said this:
I thought about retiring soon after. It was a real thought in a conversation, just because it’s like, ‘okay, what are you doing now?’ … you know I’m only 46, so I still have some gas in the tank and I still love what I do like to do it, but it sucks to say you saw your beak. Like, I jumped over the shark. What are you doing right now? Like, I have to get a call from Elon Musk saying, “Hey, you wanna do 5 minutes in space?”
Obviously, the comic is sassy in the classic Fluffy style, but who knows? Space may not be the most unrealistic goal. People of lesser value have recently made the journey to the last frontier and may be better off with a few fewer billionaires and a few more Fluffies.
Gabriel Iglesias is the first comedian to perform at Dodger’s Stadium in its 60-year history.
