Shooting intimate scenes can be difficult, it requires the actors to be incredibly vulnerable, and I can imagine it can be a stressful experience. in the new movie my character David Dawson explained that the intimate scenes were a “special” experience, thanking his stage mate, one of the greatest musicians in the business at the moment, Harry Styles, for being such a pleasure to work with.
The film follows the story of Tom, a gay cop (played by Styles) in 1950. Tom is married Marion (played by Emma Corrin) , and is in a relationship with Patrick (played by David Dawson). They find themselves in a complex love triangle, further complicated by the lack of acceptance of gays in the 1950s. Throughout the film, there are numerous sex scenes between Styles and Dawson’s characters. When it came to shooting scenes and making sure both actors were comfortable, Dawson said THR :
This is one of the most special things I took away from this project. Because initially when you read the script and know that there are these intimate scenes, you hope that the person you will go through this process with is someone you can fully trust, communicate with you and be egoless. And I have all this and more at Harry’s.
Previously, the actor noted that Styles was straightforward and a “good northern boy”, also saying he communicated openly during filming. The reporter then asked Dawson if he had ever thought about shooting sex scenes with one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. He responded by saying:
I guess less of that, plus when they said “cut”, we both laughed. This is how strange the situation is. There were only four other people who needed to be with us in that room, and suddenly when you say “cut”, you realize that, you know, the DP is there. But we all laugh, because this is the best way to handle it.
I guess shooting sex scenes must always be a little awkward. It’s nice to know that both the cast and crew were able to create a safe environment to make sure they could tell this important story. like him review by my character for 24 News Bulletin he says, this story is very important and “it is important to remember that it was generations of LGBTQ + people that society ultimately failed.”
In general, the first reviews of the film they were good and praised Styles’ performance .
