His performance was notably marked by a particularly successful a cappella passage. In the Eurovision 2024 final, Slimane performed his title My love. With tears in his eyes, the artist sang this ballad with perfection and great emotion.
“I love you, I don’t know why,” he told the crowd, speaking directly to the camera.
“We need to be united through music, yes, but in love and peace”
Before the semi-finals in midweek, the artist told BFMTV that he had “tried to make a song that looked like (him).”
“I aim for the place of pride, I want to be proud of myself, of my team, of what will remain, of the video that I will show my daughter when she grows up,” he declared.
During the final rehearsals this Saturday, May 11, Slimane interrupted his performance to deliver a message of peace and love. “When I was a child he dreamed of music, I dreamed of becoming a singer and singing about peace,” he said to the applause of the Malmö audience, according to his statements collected by 20 minutes. Before adding: “We need to be united by music, yes, but in love and peace.”
Slimane took the stage this Saturday night in penultimate position, just in front of the artist representing Austria. A place that has not changed despite the minor disruptions caused by the exclusion of the Dutch candidate Joost Klein.
