Cannes 2024: Zaho de Sagazan will record his version of “Modern Love” sung at the opening of the festival

After the acclaimed tribute to David Bowie and Greta Gerwig on the Croisette, singer Zaho de Sagazan records her version of “Modern Love”.

The sequence marked the opening ceremony of the Cannes festival: Zaho de Sagazan arrives on the stage of the Palais des Festivals in socks to sing modern love to Greta Gerwig, president of the jury.

This version of David Bowie’s hit, made in reference to a scene from the film. Francisco Ha (2012) with Greta Gerwig, moved the actress and director, and was widely broadcast and commented on on social networks.

“On the verge of discomfort”

The young singer, multiple winner of the Victoires de la Musique, announced in an Instagram story that she was recording this version.

Recalling her performance for Brut, she explained the panic she felt when singing. “I was about to feel bad, but I had to pretend I was okay.” That didn’t stop him from taking off his shoes to dance more comfortably on stage.
