R&B singer Cassie has broken her silence after CNN broadcast a video last Friday that showed her ex-husband, rapper Sean Combs, unleashing violence against her in 2016 at a Los Angeles hotel.
In a message published on Instagram on May 23, Cassie declared that “serait toujours en rémission du passé” avant de demander à ses abonnés “d’ouvrir (leur) cœur pour croire les victims dès qu’elles prennent la parole the first time”.
“Domestic violence is a real scourge. “It has destroyed me to a point I never imagined,” she added. “I worked a lot on myself and now I feel better.”
Sean Combs apologized for his “inexcusable” and “disgusting” behavior after the video was released. He explained that he had since sought treatment, particularly for his addictions. “I’m very sorry,” he added.
Various rape accusations
The 54-year-old rapper and producer, who also goes by “Diddy,” “Puff Daddy” and “P. Diddy”, has faced several accusations of rape, sexual exploitation and physical and psychological violence since 2023.
Among them is a civil complaint filed in November by Cassie that accused her ex-partner of rape in 2018 and “violent” and “deviant” behavior for a decade. The matter was eventually resolved “amicably.”
Last Tuesday, another complaint was filed against the rapper. Crystal McKinney, a former model, accused him of sexual assault in New York in 2003.
