“We see an increasingly darker future.” Invited to the RTL microphone this Thursday, June 20, to promote his next album FreedomThe Marseille artist Soprano expressed concern about the rise of the extreme right in France, as the legislative elections approach.
“Today, when I see that there are people who can vote for extreme right-wing parties, it gives me chills because I say to myself: ‘where are we going?'” he said, referring to the 31.5% obtained. by Jordan Bardella during the European elections at the beginning of June.
“In Italy the same thing happens, in other European countries the same thing happens. We see an increasingly darker future, with divisions, accusations, generalities that harm communities…”, continues the artist at the RTL microphone.
“Many people have forgotten how this party (the RN, ND) was built: the speeches, the shocking phrases, the commitments… Parties that have speeches that divide people, that scares me, that brings me back to the songs of IAM at the time or NTM or Diams and I say to myself: ‘damn, we haven’t made any progress there,'” he added.
Mobilizations against the extreme right
Questioned by the local media La Provence, the Marseille artist also reminded his fans of the importance of voting during the legislative elections on June 30 and July 7.
“Vote! It has an impact, it’s the only thing we have left that can change things, it’s too important. And I think young people need to hear it, because they are the ones who will inherit all this in the future.” he says.
Like Soprano, numerous personalities from the world of culture such as Omar Sy, Squeezie, Judith Godrèche and Annie Ernaux have also intervened in recent weeks to express their fears about a possible victory of the extreme right in the legislative elections.
This Thursday, June 20, several hundred professionals from the world of culture also demonstrated in Paris “against the extreme right” and against the “disintegration of the public service”, after a joint call by fifteen unions.
