A small bug quickly fixed. On Thursday morning, some lucky Prime Video subscribers were pleasantly surprised to discover the new Doctor strange in the multiverse of madnessavailable for free access on the platform.
An “error” according to the specialized site phoneandroidrecalling that according to the new media chronology, introduced in November 2021, foreign streaming platforms (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Vedéo, etc.) must wait fifteen months from the release of a film in theaters before distributing it to their subscribers in France.
Given these regulations, the Marvel production, released on May 4, 2022, should therefore only have been available online from the end of 2023.

The feature film only remained in free access for a few hours before Prime Video realized their mistake and corrected it. According to phoneandroid, this anomaly could be due to an oversight on the part of the platform to filter France when adding the film to its catalog. Amazon, however, did not communicate on the matter.
Because the media chronology, very controversial with streaming platforms, only concerns France. Thus, Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness is already available in Disney+ in other countries including the United States.
If it is therefore no longer possible to watch Doctor Strange 2 for free in France, the film starring Benedict Cumberbatch is still available for purchase in digital format (for €16.99) and for rental in 4K for 48 hours (for 4, €99).
