Did Kanye West Give the Idea for ‘Django Unchained’ to Quentin Tarantino? The manager denies

The director explains why Kanye West recently claimed to be behind his 2013 film, which starred Jamie Foxx in the title role.

Quentin Tarantino didn’t notice django unchained based on an idea by Kanye West. This is what the American filmmaker said this Thursday in an interview to deny an assertion by the rapper, who is also in full media decline since the anti-Semitic outings.

“I had the idea for Django for a long time when I met Kanye West,” the ‘Kill Bill’ director said on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show.

The filmmaker continues, recounting a conversation with the rapper, which dates back more than ten years: “Kanye West wanted to make a film version of ‘The College Dropout’ (the artist’s first album, editor’s note). He wanted great filmmakers to make different songs from the album and turn it into a giant movie.

“We met and had a great time. He had an idea for a video clip, I think it was for ‘Gold Digger’, in which he was a slave. It was a very funny idea (…) that was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.” This clip ultimately never got made. “Anyway, that’s what he means when he says he’s the one who told me about it.”

A film about slavery.

Released in 2013, django unchained features Jamie Foxx as a slave hired as a hit man. The actor appeared in the clip. Gold seeker by Kanye West four years earlier.

Last week, the rapper he claimed that Tarantino and Foxx had “had the idea of django unchainedfor him, because he had presented them with a similar project for the clip. Before abandoning the concept: the video that emerged was not at all reminiscent of slavery.

Kanye West has come under fire since he posted a series of anti-Semitic posts on social media earlier this month. His words were unanimously condemned, and many of his collaborators disassociate themselves from the rapper. Hollywood talent agency CAA announced it would no longer represent him, and the Balenciaga and Adidas brands ended their partnerships. According to Forbesthe interpreter of Good Life it would have seen its assets slashed by $1.5 billion in one day.
