Kaley Cuoco recalled the incident while speaking with author Jessica Radloff for her oral history book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series. In the complete book, which also includes a story of Chef who cuts his hair Penny’s (via People) actress reflected on the set for Entertainment Tonight and how that scene helped her forget the fact that news of her divorce was about to reach the masses:
I was in a scene at the comic store, wearing a purple sweater and sitting on the sofa between Jim and Johnny, while Simon and Kunal sang this ridiculous song in their little band. And I laugh hysterically. Really. And they used it. And that was the scene we were shooting when ET was watching us, and I remember sitting there, thinking, “My divorce is about to be announced right now.”
It’s nice to know that during what could have been one of the hardest days in Kaley Cuoco’s life, she was able to find some solace in laughing at her co-stars’ performances. It’s hard to even imagine the kind of pressure the Emmy nominee felt at the time, and I can’t think of a better way for her to find solace amidst that ordeal.

I only remember the behind-the-scenes drama, but shooting that scene was a truly wonderful escape.
