Meghan Markle revealed this week in the new episode of her podcast that her husband, Prince Harry, was unable to answer some questions on the British citizenship test because they were too difficult.
The Duchess of Sussex studied for the exam when she moved to the UK after her engagement to Prince Harry in November 2017. Her plan was to gain indefinite residency before becoming a British citizen.
“That citizenship test was very difficult,” he recalled. “I was studying and I remember yelling, ‘Oh my God.’ I went to ask my husband ‘do you know?’ ‘and that, do you know?’ he said ‘no idea.’
“Who built the Tower of London?”
The British citizenship test is an MCQ that lasts 45 minutes, specifies the guardian and features 24 questions on British history and traditions. There are questions like “Who built the Tower of London?”, “When was slavery abolished in the British Empire?” or “What were the two famous groups in the 1960s?” While some questions relate to general knowledge, others are more specific and require a good knowledge of the country.
a successful podcast
Meghan Markle has given up her attempts to become a British citizen in 2020 after splitting from the royal family to settle in California. Under British law, to claim citizenship, she must have been resident in the UK for more than 270 days, in the 3 years prior to application.
The Duchess mentioned this anecdote on her podcast with actress Pamela Adlon. Released on August 23 archetypes analyze the clichés about women. The 12 episodes of this podcast are “intimate and candid” conversations between the Duchess of Sussex and her guests, according to Spotify.
Meghan Markle has already hosted former tennis player Serena Williams, singer Mariah Carey and comedian Mindy Kaling and comedian Margaret Cho. The success is there: the podcast has dethroned Spotify The Joe Rogan Experience by controversial presenter Joe Rogan.
